We are pleased to offer this beautiful book containing excellent photographs of many striking portraits done in oil by An He, a Chinese artist born into an artistic family in 1957. The book has some English descriptions and also includes some of his early paintings and drawings. It's invaluable as a reference for the portrait artist, beautifully demonstrating the painting methods and wonderful poses used by An He, all shown in the beautiful reproductions throughout the book, with a striking similarity to paintings done by John Singer Sargent
An He specializes in romantic figurative paintings of women and his admiration and his respect for women is obvious as one views the subjects. He paints beautiful women in beautiful poses that usually have themes with settings of the Ballet, gardens and musical instruments.
His father, a highly respected artist and Professor of Art taught him to be an artist from an early age and he later studied at one of the top academies in China.
As a result, he was invited to join the All China Artist Association, and became its youngest member at the age of 24, the youngest member ever chosen.
His paintings have been widely exhibited through China and he has been commissioned to do many book covers and illustrations for other publications, as well as having won National Art Excellence awards in China, with his works on display in the National Museum of Fine Arts in Beijing.
