Note: This portrait painting performance by David was originally only available as a VHS tape which is no longer available; however, the artist has had it made into a DVD-R video, which plays exactly the same as the original VHS tape and is now available, so that this important demonstration will not be lost.
Many students and customers have asked when I would offer a portrait  painting video to follow my portrait drawing video. David Leffel is a well-known oil painter in the Old Master style, and his working methods for portrait and still-life are among the best I have studied.
I have the pleasure of offering David's newest video, A Day With David A. Leffel, which demonstrates portrait painting from the live model before a live audience of workshop students.
This production includes a wealth of information about
the subject of picture making, not just portrait painting. David
is a painter of light and his focus is on making a beautiful painting, regardless of the subject. Few people can verbalize the process of a basically visual medium better than he.
